I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Statistical Sciences at the School of Science & Technology, IE University.

My research develops flexible statistical models—P-splines, mixed models, and computational statistics—together with flexible survival for recurrent events and latent memory representations for longitudinal athlete monitoring, with applications in health and sports science.

Before joining IE University, I completed my PhD at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2010), was a postdoctoral fellow at CSIRO / Data61 in Melbourne (2011–2014), and was a researcher at BCAM in Bilbao (2014–2022), where I led the Applied Statistics Research Line and coordinated Data Science and AI in the Knowledge Transfer Unit.
